the Comer Museum will now be showing films throughout the history of cinema! On the last Saturday of each month, from 2pm to 3:30pm, stop by and enjoy a variety of cinematic masterpieces that once graced our local, beloved theatres.

The Comer Museum will be hosting its Public Archaeology Forum on the first Thursday of every month from 3 pm - 7 pm. These events are open to the general public. Click HERE for a list of expected meeting dates.

 

Anyone interested in local history, prehistory, and archaeology is encouraged to attend! Come speak with our resident archaeologist and discuss local history, bring artifacts for identification, do your part as a citizen scientist to contribute to the archaeological record!

Marble Sculptures by Ada and Charles Cummings​

​

For the month of August the museum will be exhibiting the beautiful marble sculptures of Ada and Charles Cummings. Come and enjoy a variety of pieces from large native American busts to small jewelry-size pieces. Each one is made from our world famous Sylacauga marble and all are available for purchase!  ​​​

​

The museum will be hosting a public reception for the artists from 6PM - 8pm on August 20th. Be sure to join us for free refreshments and to purchase your next piece of art. Don't miss this incredible exhibit!!

Annual Photo Contest​

​

During September the museum will once again be hosting our annual photography competition. The contest is open to all amateur photographers (anyone who does not receive the majority of their income from photography). There are two categories: Adult and Student (under the age of 18). ​​​

​

Click HERE or stop by the museum for official rules and entry form. Artists may submit up to 5 images. The cost to enter is $25 per artist for one photo, and $5 for each additional photo. Deadline to enter is August 28th. Winners will be announced at a public reception for the artists from 6PM - 8pm on September 17th. Be sure to join us for free refreshments and to enjoy excellent local photography. Don't miss competition!!
