The Comer Museum will be hosting its Public Archaeology Forum on the first Thursday of every month from 3 pm - 7 pm. The next meeting is scheduled for May 7th.

 

These events are open to the general public. Anyone interested in local history, prehistory, and archaeology is encouraged to attend! Come speak with our resident archaeologist and discuss local history, bring artifacts for identification, do your part as a citizen scientist to contribute to the archaeological record!

Congressional Art Student Competition​

For the month of April the Comer Museum will be hosting the Congressional Art Competition for local area students.  Come by and enjoy the work of the next generation of great artists! ​​​

​

Judging will take place April 17th. The museum will be hosting a public reception for the artists at 2PM on April 18th. Be sure to join us for free refreshments and of course, inspiring art. Don't miss this incredible exhibit!!

Sylacauga Magic of Marble Festival

Get Ready for the 2026 Magic of Marble Festival, sponsored by Alabama State Council on the Arts and Sylacauga Arts Council!  Watch sculptors work their magic on our unique local marble. Enjoy IMERYS and OMYA Quarry Tours.

 

Participate in our famous marble Scavenger Hunt from March 23rd through April 13th! Applications may be picked up at B.B. Comer Memorial Library, the Sylacuaga Chamber of Commerce, and right here at the Comer Museum. And don't forget the museum also hosts an in-house children's marble scavenger hunt for children aged 4-12!​
